In Part 3 of this series, we’ll take apart Billie’s astrocartography as well as uncover one of her most pivotal years through the lens of annual profections. It’s all very eye-opening, to say the least!
Astrocartography: Midheaven lines
Billie was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Highland Park, where her parents bought a house right around the time she was born. And although she’s since picked up a couple of properties around the L.A. area, she still spends a lot of time at her parents’ place. As she explained in a 2023 podcast interview: “I like my parents being around.”
When I first pulled up Billie’s astrocartography map, I got chills. Why? Because her hometown lines echo Liam Gallagher’s in a spooky-cool way. Liam grew up near his Sun, Mercury, and Mars MC lines—career powerhouses—and his Manchester roots were deeply tied to his public visibility and career development.
Billie’s map has a similar vibe. Los Angeles sits smack between two of her MC lines: Mercury and Chiron. And they’re not just hanging around in the background; they’re both within an intense strength orb. Translation: L.A. is basically supercharged for her career.
Let’s take a closer look at what MC lines are:
MC Lines (Midheaven): These are the big career + public image lines. Living or working near them tends to make you more visible to the world. Think: “the spotlight finds you here.”
Mercury Lines: Boost communication, creativity, and expression. Great for writers, performers, and anyone who makes a living with their voice.
Chiron Lines: Not always comfortable, but deeply transformative. They highlight places where pain can be alchemized into healing—and often produce incredible art.
When someone like Billie has her Mercury and Chiron MC lines running so close to her hometown? It’s basically the universe setting her up for a career that’s both highly visible and deeply emotional, with her voice at the center of it all. As I mentioned in part two of the Billie series, Billie’s Mercury is a showstopper. It’s highly visible to the public, highlighting her natural Mercurial talents: communication, expression, and wordplay. And her Mercury is conjunct Chiron, the cosmic wounded healer. Together, they create a dynamic that channels pain and vulnerability into expression. And since Mercury signifies the voice, it’s like the universe said: “Okay Billie, your voice is going to be more than just sound—it’s going to be the vessel for raw emotion, catharsis, and unexpected wisdom.”
And let’s not forget: writing and recording with her brother Finneas has been part of Billie’s life since she was a kid—and it all unfolded right there in Los Angeles, smack on her Mercury + Chiron MC lines. You could call it her “home-line magic” in action. The siblings even built a home studio where they record and produce much of their music. That intimate, DIY setting gives them the freedom to experiment, to keep things raw, and to capture the unfiltered emotions that define Billie’s sound. In other words, the very songs that carried her voice out into the world were born in the exact place where her chart insists her voice and career would be the most visible. Coincidence? The stars are absolutely shaking their heads “no.”
Paran lines
Let’s look at the paran lines on Billie’s map. So Billie was born and raised in Los Angeles, right along a paran line linking Saturn rising and Uranus at the Midheaven. In traditional astrology, Saturn represents structure, responsibility, and discipline, while Uranus (though a modern planet) echoes the principle of sudden innovation and disruption — the urge to break free. Together, this pairing speaks to someone who can carve out an original path within existing systems, balancing rebellion with remarkable focus.
You can see this in how Billie’s career unfolded: her sound and image were unconventional from the start — whisper vocals, dark aesthetics, genre-blending production — yet behind it all was clear discipline and precision, often working closely with her brother Finneas to craft songs that were meticulously arranged and produced. Even the debate over whether her rise was “organic” or strategically guided fits that Saturn–Uranus tension: a mix of structure and rebellion, tradition and innovation, industry and individuality. It’s as if the cosmos wrote into her birthplace the story of an artist destined to challenge norms — but to do it with control, intention, and staying power.
Alongside the Saturn–Uranus line, Los Angeles also aligns Billie with a Mars at the Midheaven and Sun at the Descendant paran — a configuration that adds heat and momentum to her public path. Mars here amplifies ambition and initiative, showing someone who isn’t afraid to take creative risks or push boundaries to make her mark. It suggests a fierce internal drive that can, at times, tip into impulsiveness — but also gives her the courage to act decisively when opportunities appear.
This fits perfectly with how Billie’s breakout unfolded. When Ocean Eyes was uploaded online, it wasn’t a carefully orchestrated PR campaign — it was a release of something that felt raw and real. Yet that impulsive moment turned into a defining career catalyst. The Mars–Sun influence describes this well: that ability to act instinctively, to channel her energy into bold creative expression, and to step confidently into her identity with a distinctive, authentic voice.
There’s one more striking influence tied to Billie’s birthplace — a North Node rising with Mars at the Midheaven paran line running close to Los Angeles. This combination speaks of a life path centered on developing confidence, independence, and a sense of purpose. It often marks someone who’s thrust into visibility early, challenged to take initiative and lead, even before they fully realize their own power.
In Billie’s case, that describes her rise almost perfectly. She was just a teenager when Ocean Eyes suddenly caught fire online, and yet she handled the spotlight with remarkable composure and focus. The North Node–Mars signature suggests that her career growth is as much about learning to own her voice as it is about fame itself — to use her platform (Mars on the Midheaven) not only to advance her ambitions but also to speak authentically and connect with her generation. Over time, that nodal theme of “asserting herself for a larger purpose” has become clearer in her work: through her advocacy, her openness about self-image and mental health, and her refusal to conform to industry expectations.
Ocean Eyes & Annual Profections: Astrology of a Viral Moment
Billie basically cracked the internet in late 2015 when she uploaded Ocean Eyes to Soundcloud. One day, she was a 13-year-old writing songs with her brother in a bedroom; the next, she was being hailed as the new voice of Gen Z. Okay, maybe the timeline wasn’t literally “upload today, Grammy tomorrow,” but the spark that changed her life forever was lit on November 18, 2015.
And if we peek at her astrology? The timing is almost too perfect.
First: What’s an Annual Profection? For anyone not fluent in ancient astrology jargon: annual profections are a predictive technique that helps us see which areas of life take center stage in a given year. Think of it like an astrological “focus spotlight” that shifts from house to house on your birthday every year.
At age 12, the spotlight is on your 1st house (self, identity). At 13, it shifts to the 2nd house (money, possessions, values, self-worth). At 14, it moves to the 3rd house (siblings, communication, learning), and so on. By cycling through the 12 houses, profections help us filter the year’s transits and ask: What really matters right now?
When Billie turned 13, she stepped into a 2nd house profection year. The 2nd house is all about money and resources, self-worth and value, and how you “make a living”. That’s already pretty on-the-nose for someone about to upload her first single.
But there’s more: Billie’s 2nd house is ruled by Venus. That makes Venus her “time-lord” for the year—a fancy way of saying that Venus was in charge of the storylines unfolding in her life. Transits to her natal Venus, transits from Venus to her other planets, and activity in Venus-ruled houses (2nd and 7th) were all going to be extra loud that year.
So Venus = queen. The 2nd house = stage. And Billie = about to go viral.
But Billie doesn’t actually have any natal planets placed in her 2nd house. So you might think, “Okay, maybe this year was quiet?” Nope. Instead, she’s got something else sitting there: her Part of Fortune.
The Part of Fortune (sometimes called “Lot of Fortune”) is one of those overlooked but chef’s kiss important points in a chart. It’s not a planet, but a calculated point that tells us about worldly success, prosperity, and a sense of flow with life. Cafeastrology.com describes it as “associated with the career or vocation, worldly success, and prosperity.” Basically, it’s like a cosmic four-leaf clover planted in your chart.
So what was happening in the sky when Billie hit “upload”?
This is where the astrology nerds spit out their coffee.
On November 18–19, 2015, the transiting Part of Fortune was conjunct her natal Part of Fortune.
Translation: the cosmic four-leaf clover in her chart got a direct hit from the cosmic four-leaf clover in the sky. It’s like Fortune herself tapped Billie on the shoulder and said, “Hey kid, wanna go viral?”
This kind of alignment screams “opportunity meets destiny.” It signals a moment where luck, visibility, and success are not only possible but almost inevitable. And sure enough, Billie’s casual Soundcloud upload wasn’t just another moody teen with a mic — it was the song that launched a global career. Sure, there’s been talk about how “organic” her breakout really was — with Finneas’s songwriting chops and their family’s entertainment background, she definitely didn’t start from zero. But regardless of any industry advantages, Billie’s sheer talent and emotional pull are what truly set her apart.
Let’s consider her other major transits involving her time-lord Venus when she uploaded Ocean Eyes on November 18, 2015:
Transit Venus in the 7th house trine natal Moon + Uranus in the 11th
Let’s make this crystal clear for everyone in the back: her time-lord Venus was moving through her 7th house of one-on-one relationships (hi, dance teacher who asked her to record a song for choreography). Venus was forming an exact trine to her Moon and Uranus in the 11th house — the house of groups, networks, and (wait for it) fanbases. Excuse me, what? That’s basically “your private collaboration suddenly blows up publicly.”
Transit Venus in the 7th house square natal Jupiter in the 4th
On the day Billie uploaded Ocean Eyes to SoundCloud in 2015, transiting Venus in her 7th house was squaring her natal Jupiter in the 4th — an astrological recipe for sharing something heartfelt (and accidentally life-changing) with the world. Venus in the 7th is all about connection and collaboration, while Jupiter in the 4th represents the creative comfort of home — in this case, the cozy setting of her brother Finneas’s bedroom studio. That square between them? It’s the cosmic nudge saying, “Hey, maybe you should show people this one.” So she did — and the universe responded with millions of plays. Two benefic planets in playful tension often bring blessings wrapped in surprises, and Billie’s “casual” upload turned out to be the celestial equivalent of posting a selfie and waking up famous.
Transit Jupiter in her 6th squaring natal Venus in the 9th
And just to complete the cosmic pile-up, we have Jupiter, the great benefic, in her 6th house of daily routines, making an exact square to her natal Venus in the 9th. Normally squares are tense, but when two benefics (Venus + Jupiter) get together, even in a square, it’s good news. Think “creative friction that pays off.” According to Astrologyking.com, “This aspect favors any arts, including drama, comedy, music, creative writing, painting, and sculpture”. The 6th house represents her day-to-day work (writing with Finneas, rehearsing dance), while the 9th is about our search for expansion, seeking and discovering new experiences, broadening horizons, publishing. So Jupiter was literally helping her turn a bedroom project into something much, much bigger.
Annual profections remind us that not every transit matters equally every year. For Billie at 13, Venus and her 2nd house were the whole story. Add in the Part of Fortune lighting up like a neon sign, Venus beaming support to her Moon and Uranus (aka “my art goes viral with my peers”), and the benefics Jupiter and Venus giving each other cosmic nudges toward the big stage.
Once Ocean Eyes blew up, the rest was history. The following year, after Billie turned 14, the profection spotlight shifted to Mercury as her new time-lord. And where’s Mercury in her chart? Sitting pretty in her 10th house of career, tightly conjunct the Midheaven—the ultimate marker of public recognition. Mercury also rules her 3rd house of siblings (cue Finneas, her creative partner-in-crime) and her 6th house of daily work and collaborators. Translation: in her Mercury year, her career path and partnerships with her brother came roaring into focus. Sure enough, 2016 was the year she signed her first record deal with Interscope Records.
A few years later she was sweeping the Grammys like it was no big deal. All because of a track she almost uploaded just for her dance teacher to choreograph to. She once said about Ocean Eyes, “That song is the reason I have the life I have.” (mirror.co.uk)
